drawings on blackboard painted panels,continued

I discovered yesterday that along with the derwent drawing pencils that I have been using, I can also use prismacolor sticks and pencils which I have been carting around since the late 70's and have not used much at all. I am glad I never got rid of them now. I figured I would never use them again, but was happily wrong. I like that I can get more color now and can lay in larger areas without using a pencil. I am really having fun with these. I think I will be able to work in a bit larger format also. I am enjoying the smallness for now.

drawings on blackboard painted panels

small 6x8 drawings done with derwent drawing pencils on blackboard painted wood panel or paper. It is different for me to work in this small format. Now I am trying to figure out how to frame them.

untitled, baby striped sheets...liquid and open acrylic

I don't have a real title for this, I picked it up again recently. I started it about 2 years ago and then lost interest, I had several suggestions from my facebook page, but nothing has stuck for me. It needs a bit of work yet, but it is mostly finished.

never leave your luggage unattended

I needed a painting, or at least wanted to create a painting for an upcoming show at the parkersburg art center, so I searched around the studio and found an old painting that was just sitting around and I decided to work with that as the jumping off point. It was a total abstract piece and I began adding some figures. some of the shapes reminded me of luggage. Flight was the theme for the show. In this beginning part I have a flying figure behind the main figure's head which I removed today when I worked on the painting, I am really struggling with the face on the main figure , I will post later the changes I made today.

studio update, next sunday evening

I have been having a lot of fun with small 12x12 inch paintings this week. It is a great way to work quickly, and experiment with some different layering techniquesas well as color combinations.
Since I am getting ready to do several shows... I need to finish about 6 paintings that are in progress, but have gotten sidetracked with these little works.
All of the square images are from the last week. All are roughly 12x12, liquid acrylic and mixed media on wood. The longer piece is almost finished, I am still struggling with the cat.

sleeping with pinkerton, with little changes still going on this one.

I now have a page on Facebook

Although I am stumbling and blundering along, I have finally set up a page on facebook-beth nash art.
Tried this morning to invite friends, but not everyone was popping up so I got frustrated and will go at it again later. I need a youngster here to help.
This is an update of sleeping with pinkerton, I really hated the faces that I came up with in the previous example, but am much happier now. Still more to do, but I am getting there.
Lots of studio time in my future. Yippee

cut from the same cloth continued.

Gorgeous spring weather, but I can't dig in the garden with my messed up knee, so I am spending a lot of time with seedlings and some time painting also.
Struggling with this one, I don't feel a clear color unity yet.
Off to Fur Peace Ranch tomorrow and looking forward to that.
I have lots of concert drawings to scan from my sketchbook, when I feel like setting at the computer for a bit.

I go through stages with silverpoint and I am in one now.

the illusion continues

this is as far as I have gotten on it today. I need to stop on it for a while and let it simmer

illusion in progressive views

I have been kind of snowed in, came home from work yesterday and didn't go today. It just keeps snowing like crazy, we haven't had a winter like this for a while. After duct taping my deteriorating ski boots together I have been getting some good cross country skiing in almost everyday for about 2 weeks. Amazing. I have also been getting a lot of studio time so I started a new painting, even though I have several that need to be finished.... I was looking through the "Illustrated Golden Bough" and was intrigued by a drawing of a painted drum head from Lapland. It looked like a time line of sorts and I have been intrigued by levels of reality lately and wanted to work with that so this is what developed from that and i am showing the steps in how this painting is developing. I think it is roughly 30 x 40 I forgot to measure... It still has a lot of problem areas, but has really been holding my interest.

swingin and jack of clubs continued

We have had a big snowstorm at least 9 inches and the electricity was off for 36 hours. I painted in the studio when it was light. I am still working on these 2 paintings.
